a two-way platform
research < > design
Founded in 2011 at the University of Queensland by Luis Feduchi as the Center for Research on Architectural Design, ROAD now operates independently with headquarters in Berlin and Galicia.
ROAD is a platform dedicated to the research of underutilized or abandoned architectural typologies, as well as transforming them by design into prototypes that address urgent issues such as:
heritage conservation, housing shortages, energy efficiency, and demographic changes linked to migration and rural depopulation.
In addition to developing these prototypes, ROAD offers to take care of their management, guiding owners, associations, public bodies, and investors through the processes of scouting, surveying, acquiring, renovating, and reusing these buildings.
In order to share its objectives, ROAD actively participates in the production of publications, exhibitions, documentaries, and physical prototypes, as well as in seeking funding to promote them.
